In addition to a renewed effort to address non-medical switching, the Patient Access for a Healthy Texas Coalition will continue to monitor policy and legislation impacting with a focus on public policy and legislation that reduces or eliminates barriers and hurdles that patients face in obtaining their doctor-prescribed medicines.
Prior to the 86th Legislature, which convenes in January 2019, lawmakers will examine the impacts of changes in prescription drug coverage and drug formularies on patients, particularly those with chronic conditions. This work, referred to as an interim study, will help guide lawmakers work in the next Legislative Session.
The Legislature, prior to the next session, is also considering the following issues, which our coalition will continue to monitor:
- Medicaid Managed Care
- PBM Regulation and Practices
- Opioid and Substance Abuse
- Funding and Budget for Health-related Agencies
- Below are “One Pagers” that are great resources to use when discussing Patient Access issues with your legislators. (COMING SOON)
